WildGuru is a team of guides – members of the Russian Mountain Guides Association – and the entire freeriding community has been formed over the years through the team’s projects.
All our guides are postgraduates of Russian Mountain Guide School, supervised by the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides, trained in professional avalanche operations with the Canadian Avalanche Association, and hold international first aid certificates.
The team conducts a variety of projects and individual programs. Weather permitting, during the entire winter season one-day freeride and skitour programs take place on a daily basis. The level of difficulty ranges from simple descents for beginner freeriders to more serious skitour routes of more than 2000m each day involving vertical ascents.
Backcountry
One of the most interesting areas of the team’s work is multi-day backcountry tours including overnight stays in tents or shelters at various wild locations (Chaukhi Massif, Mount Kazbek - 5,034 m, Mount Cherkhota, Khorisar volcano, amongst others). The programs are individually organized for groups, taking all the necessary into consideration: specifics of the time of year, the number of days, physical and technical conditions, particular requests, etc.
One of these expeditions was reborn in 2016 as a traditional event to close the season – the Backcountry-camp "Khorisar"
Backcountry-camp "Khorisar" 2019 will be held from March 31 to April 6: 2 days skitour in the region + 5 days skitour on "Khorisar" volcano (living in tents on a snowy plateau among high mountains). It is the high point of the season, bringing together an international team of experienced riders.
Expeditions and seeking out new spots
The WildGuru team is constantly exploring new areas. In this way, over the past 2 years a network of steep corridors has been mapped out to the North of Gudauri, opening up opportunities for technical skiing in the area. A number of long day pro-routes were also looked into. The list of possible spots is expanding annually!
